I Like Big Mutts and I Cannot Lie (…Yes You Read That Right)



When it comes to saving pet’s lives, Miami-Dade County Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center (Animal Services) is working to persuade the community to think big when adopting a pet, big dogs that is.


A new “I Like Big Mutts” video (PSA) produced for Animal Services by Miami-Dade County’s Miami-Dade TV and inspired by a popular rap song as part of an “I like Big Mutts” adoption promotion. The video features actual big shelter dogs and the lyrics tout some of the benefits of adopting a large dog.





Miami Prepares for Solar Eclipse on August 21



The Moon’s shadow is scheduled to cover about 80 percent of the Sun when viewed from Miami, 1-4 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 21. Totality will be visible for two minutes, 42 seconds in the shadow path that races across the U.S. at 1,500 miles per hour from Oregon to the South Carolina shore.


A few Southern Cross Astros will be observing and imaging the totality from sites in the Rocky Mountains and the Carolinas. The public will jam highways and communities along the center line within the shadow path about 80 miles in width.





Annual South Beach Seafood Week Oct. 17-21 Coming Soon



The fifth annual South Beach Seafood Week, Oct. 17-21, is back to begin Miami’s globally recognized stone crab season in the best way South Beach knows how. This is not your typical Seafood Festival, but a high-end experience that showcases the talents of South Florida’s leading chefs and culinary masterminds via a diverse group of events, benefiting a great cause: CI Foundation’s Eat Smart program.


Saturday’s beachfront event, South Beach Seafood Festival, brought to you by Kendall Jackson and presented by Coca-Cola and Jack Daniel’s, spans four blocks and welcomes over 13,000 seafood lovers to enjoy a day of fun in the sun in the Sobe Chic way. And this year, it’s all about the upgrade.




‘Team Victoria’s Runway’ Fashion Show To Benefit St. Jude



High-end home furnishings and interior design firm Robb & Stucky, in partnership with Douglas Elliman and Aleren Boutique, will host “Team Victoria’s Runway” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at its Coral Gables showroom, 4711 Le Jeune Rd.


An evening of fashion and fun for a great cause, the fundraiser will feature a fashion show starring 10-year-old Victoria, a brave St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patient. Victoria has been battling a rare brain tumor, several major surgeries and radiation treatment during the past two years.
