The FREE event will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 12pm to 4pm at Losner Park, located at 104 N. Krome Ave. Homestead, FL 33030 and will feature the Homestead National Parks Trolley. This year’s Eco Fair will also host its first Environmental Film Series inside the Seminole Theatre just next door to Losner Park. Audiences will see a selection of influential short films showcasing Everglades and Biscayne National Parks.

    The debut of Brooklyn Fitboxing in Coral Gables

     

     

    In the heart of Downtown Coral Gables, Brooklyn Fitboxing has opened its doors and reeling in patrons from each and every corner of Coral Gables and abroad. Since its opening in December of 2017, Brooklyn Fitboxing is selling out classes and continues to add more slots to keep up with the consistent demand. This location is actually the franchise’s first in the United States.

    Brooklyn Fitboxing combines boxing, kickboxing and functional training into one full-body and fully tracked 47 minute group exercise. If given 100% max effort with an all-in mentality, participants may burn 1,000 calories in one single session.

    Gulliver Students to Participate in Earth-To-Space Call with NASA

     

     

    Eighteen Gulliver Academy 6th grade students will participate in a 20-minute, Earth-to-space call with a NASA astronaut living, working, and doing research aboard the International Space Station during their Earth and Space class.

    As a Space Exploration Educator, Gulliver’s very own middle school science faculty member Valeria Rodriguez, who’s attending the 24th Annual Space Exploration Educators Conference (SEEC) at the Space Center Houston, will have the opportunity to speak with Expedition 54 astronaut Joe Acaba aboard the International Space Station. She will ask Acaba pre-submitted questions by her students about life aboard the space station, NASA’s deep space exploration plans and doing science in space.

    Teach-A-Thon volunteers at Taste of Education

     

     

    The Education Fund (EducationFund.org) kicks off 2018 with Taste of Education presented by Sapoznik Insurance on Thursday, Feb. 8, an evening dedicated to celebrating volunteers and the culinary dreams of high school students. Taste of Education showcases the gastronomic talents of students in 16 culinary high school programs in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Students competing 30 teams will prepare gourmet bites and vy for top prizes. The culinary competition kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Double Tree by Hilton at the Miami Airport Convention Center, 711 NW 72nd Ave., in Miami.
