    Homestead Speedway Continues With ‘Write Track Poetry’ Competition

     

     

    Homestead-Miami Speedway is continuing its commitment of inspiring students to become champions in the classroom through creative writing. Homestead-Miami Speedway and the Omari Hardwick bluapple Poetry Network of the Jason Taylor Foundation recently began the second annual “Write Track Poetry” competition with a pep rally at Gateway Environmental K-8 Learning Center in Homestead. The event, which hosted more than 450 middle schoolers, provided students an entertaining avenue to get excited about creative writing and literacy through poetry with a focus on NASCAR. Students were shown videos from past partnerships of the program, and then treated to spoken-word performances from members of the bluapple Poetry Network.

    New Frost Museum of Science Exhibition, Brain: The Inside Story

     

     

    The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, 1101 Biscayne Blvd., is featuring “Brain: The Inside Story” which opened on Saturday, Oct. 7, located in the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery. The traveling exhibition invites guests to explore how the human brain has evolved, how it works and how it makes us human. Drawing on 21st-Century research and technology, “Brain: The Inside Story” offers guests a new perspective and keen insight into their own brains through imaginative art, vivid brain-scan imaging and dynamic interactive exhibits for all ages.

    Doral Food & Wine Festival 2017

     

     

    The second annual Doral Food and Wine Festival returns to the City of Doral the weekend of Nov. 4 – 5 at an all new venue this year – Doral Central Park, formerly known as JC Bermudez Park. The annual festival showcases nationally and internationally recognized wineries and top restaurants in Doral and across South Florida. With more than 1,000 guests in attendance at last year’s inaugural festival, Doral Food and Wine Festival 2017 promises to be even bigger and better. This year, the festival will feature a grand tasting pavilion, a wine and spirits pavilion, culinary and mixology demonstrations, cooking competitions, live music, and interactive retail displays.

    Featured Restaurant: Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern

     

     

    In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern, including its newest venue located at CityPlace Doral, donated all profits generated on Sept. 18 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Rusty Bucket, in partnership with sister company Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, hosted the one-day fundraiser to support people affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma – with the goal of donating together more than $150,000. The funds raised are providing food, shelter, and other emergency supplies to victims of both hurricanes.
