    Did your ancestor work at Vizcaya?



    Mounting its first exhibition about staff life, Vizcaya will highlight the lives of former employees. Emphasis will be placed on the James Deering years when Vizcaya was being planned and while under construction (1910-1922) and when the estate was his winter home (1916-1925). The exhibition will be on view Nov. 8, 2017 through July 2018.


    “The exhibition will explore the staff relationships that developed while working on the estate, hierarchical structures in the work force, and social issues characteristic of the era,” Wouters added.





    ‘Team Victoria’s Runway’ fashion show raises $8,000 for St. Jude’s



    High-end home furnishings and interior design firm, Robb & Stucky, in partnership with Douglas Elliman and Aleren Boutique, hosted “Team Victoria’s Runway” on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at its Coral Gables showroom, 4711 Le Jeune Rd.


    The event featured a fashion show starring 10-year-old Victoria, a brave patient of the hospital. Victoria has been battling a rare brain tumor, several major surgeries and radiation treatment during the past two years.





    Paws 4 You Dog Rescue raises over $80,000 at ‘Casino Night’



    Paws 4 You, South Dade’s premier, 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue and retreat, enjoyed a hugely successful “Casino Night” fundraiser on Aug. 19, with 250 attendees, emcee Dave Barry and guests of honor, Donna Shalala with her rescue dog Sweetie.


    Because of the dedication of its hardworking volunteers, Paws 4 You has been able to meet its financial commitments and help a greater number of dogs each year.




    NWSA to present benefit art auction with works of distinguished alumni



    The iconic Faena District, located in Miami Beach, will host New World School of the Arts’ Alumni Art Auction to raise funds for Artseen, the school’s off-site visual arts studios located in the heart of downtown Miami just minutes from Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus.


    Taking place at Faena Forum, 3300 Collins Ave., the exhibition will have available for silent auction artworks from more than 40 participating NWSA graduates, among which are world-renowned artists Hernan Bas, Adler Guerrier, Bert Rodriguez, Jen Stark, and Michael Vasquez.




    Featured Restaurant: Katsuya at SLS Lux



    Related Group and the Allen Morris Company have just revealed new renderings for the SLS Lux. The renderings give a glimpse into the 58-story tower’s 15,000-square-foot ground floor restaurant Katsuya, by chef Katsuya Uechi, and cocktail lounge by SBar. Related’s executive Carlos Rosso previously told The Real Deal the buildout for Katsuya cost $22 million. The photos also show off the tower’s 9th floor garden, the restaurant’s entrance and the tower’s lobby designed by Yabu Pushelberg. Arquitectonica was behind the designs for the mixed-use building.
